Just Around the Bend...

The lure of what might be just around the bend is something that captures all who pick up a fly rod, we believe. There is just something alluring about the possibilities of the unknown. Maybe just like the saying "the grass is greener on the other side" the fishing is better just around the bend. The lyrics of a song which have stuck with me paint a more accurate picture: "the grass may be greener on the other side, but it's just as hard to mow." Why is it that we fly fishermen always think that the fishing will be better somewhere else than where we find ourselves. We say "If I could just get the fly a few feet further out", "If I could only prolong the drift a bit more" "I bet the may flies will be hatching just a little bit upstream" and "I´m sure the fish will be rising just around that bend".... well in this case the where rising just around the bend but thats a different story all together...
